Pakistan Must Capitalise on Improving Ties with US, Says Mian Kashif Ashfaq

*LAHORE, November 1 (3D Media):* Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC), Mian Kashif Ashfaq, recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, said on Sunday that Pakistan was emerging as a competent and confident country, playing an effective role in promoting regional peace, stability and development.

Chairing a meeting of the Council’s Board of Directors here, he said Pakistan must make the best use of the recent improvement in its relations with the United States while maintaining strong and balanced ties with other key partners, including China.

He said Pakistan should take effective measures to maintain and expand its share in the growing bilateral trade with the United States. The American market offers significant opportunities for Pakistan’s young and technology-oriented entrepreneurs, particularly in IT exports, startups, software development, digital technology and e-commerce.

Mian Kashif Ashfaq said American companies should also be encouraged to invest in Pakistan’s shale oil and mineral sectors, particularly in the exploration and production of lithium, rare earth elements and copper.

He noted that these minerals were of strategic importance for several advanced industries, including semiconductor manufacturing, defence technology and robotics.

He identified defence, security and counterterrorism as other promising areas for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

However, he stressed that Pakistan would need to address policy and regulatory obstacles, reduce the cost of doing business, overcome security concerns and improve infrastructure to fully capitalise on these opportunities.

He said a stable investment environment, consistent policies and stronger economic engagement could help Pakistan expand trade, attract foreign investment and strengthen its position in international markets.
