KARACHI (special crosspondent) – President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a high-level meeting on 27 July 2026 to review the progress of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and strategic cooperation initiatives between the Government of Sindh and prominent Chinese enterprises. During the session, the President directed that all agreed-upon projects be expedited, urging officials to complete any remaining procedural and technical requirements without delay.

Expanding Sindh-China Bilateral Cooperation

The meeting, held at CM House, was attended by representatives from Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Modern Biology Group. Facilitated by the China-Pakistan-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Association, the gathering served to assess the implementation status of previously established cooperation frameworks. Much like the recent high-level discussions where the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong Meets Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, this meeting underscored the significance of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two nations, particularly under the evolving China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0 framework.

Advancing Green Energy and Infrastructure

The President received a comprehensive briefing on several key sectors, including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, veterinary biological vaccines, animal traceability, and agricultural technology. Discussions with Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. focused on manufacturing and supplying EV charging stations, solar-storage-charging facilities, and technology transfer. President Zardari noted that Karachi and Hyderabad hold significant potential for modern energy infrastructure, suggesting the M-9 motorway as a primary corridor for intercity charging networks to bolster national green mobility efforts.

Enhancing Livestock and Agricultural Standards

Progress reports were also presented regarding the partnership with Luoyang Modern Biology Group concerning veterinary biological vaccines and animal identification systems. The roadmap includes an upcoming visit by the Sindh Institute of Animal Husbandry to China in August, with vaccine trials for the Sindh-08 strain of foot and mouth disease expected to conclude by November 2026. President Zardari highlighted that these initiatives are vital for improving food safety and increasing the export competitiveness of Pakistan’s livestock sector. Reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to deepening ties with Beijing, President Zardari stated that the government remains fully committed to facilitating Chinese investors. High-level engagements, including the recent Kuwaiti Foreign Minister to Visit Pakistan for High-Level Bilateral Talks, signal a broader push for international investment in key infrastructure sectors across the country. The meeting concluded with the President tasking the provincial leadership with ensuring that all administrative hurdles are cleared to facilitate these projects. Attendees included Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, and various provincial ministers and senior officials alongside the Chinese delegation led by Tao Xu and Ms. Hao Yuejiao.
