Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Peace, Urges Dialogue to Prevent Wider Conflict

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, stressing that continued diplomatic engagement is essential to safeguard the shared interests of the region and prevent a wider conflict.

The reaffirmation came during a telephone conversation between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi. Prince Faisal said the Kingdom would continue its efforts to promote lasting peace and regional stability through dialogue and diplomacy.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman favored dialogue to reduce tensions over Iran. He made the remarks while announcing two agreements with Iran, reportedly related to the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s nuclear programme.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also held a telephone conversation with President Trump, during which he emphasized the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic engagement to ease tensions in the region.

The Crown Prince stressed that every possible effort should be made to achieve peace and stability through diplomatic solutions capable of delivering positive results, protecting regional security, and preventing a broader conflict that could have serious regional and global consequences.
