DG PID Shafqat Abbas Highlights Economic Stability and Media Responsibility

FAISALABAD (special crosspondent) – Director General of the Press Information Department (PID) Lahore, Shafqat Abbas Khan, has asserted that Pakistan is progressively advancing toward economic stability, driven by strategic reform measures implemented under the administration of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Furthermore, he emphasized that fact-based, objective, and responsible journalism is currently indispensable for bolstering national unity, democratic resilience, and maintaining public confidence in the digital era.

The Role of Responsible Journalism

Addressing a forum organized by the Faisalabad Editors Council, Khan remarked that the Pakistani media has consistently served as a pillar for raising public awareness, reinforcing democratic institutions, and facilitating constructive national dialogue. He cautioned, however, that the proliferation of misinformation across digital platforms has necessitated a renewed commitment to ethical reporting. Khan underscored that verified information and balanced coverage are critical components for supporting national institutions and preserving public trust.

Economic Revival and Reforms

Reflecting on the past year, Khan noted that the government has undertaken rigorous economic decisions essential for national recovery, which are now yielding tangible results. He pointed to declining inflation, rising foreign exchange reserves, and historic performance at the Pakistan Stock Exchange as indicators that the country is on an upward trajectory. These developments align with broader initiatives, such as the Pakistan Begins Assembly of First Commercial Containership in Forty Years, which highlights efforts toward industrial self-sufficiency. He noted that international financial institutions and global rating agencies have recognized this positive economic direction, thereby improving the nation’s appeal for foreign direct investment.

Industrial Growth and National Development

Recognizing Faisalabad as a cornerstone of the nation’s industrial sector, the DG emphasized that fostering industrial growth is vital for expanding exports, generating employment, and stimulating economic activity. He stated that the government remains dedicated to cultivating an industry-friendly ecosystem to encourage private sector participation. Furthermore, he outlined government efforts to modernize the agricultural sector through the adoption of advanced technology, improved seed quality, and enhanced water management, all intended to ensure national food security and sustainable economic growth.

Security and Diplomatic Progress

On the security front, Khan stated that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, operating under the leadership of Pakistan Army Chief Stresses Preparedness Against Threats, have significantly enhanced border management and counterterrorism capabilities, thereby establishing a more secure climate for investment. He also highlighted Pakistan’s recent diplomatic successes, noting that the Prime Minister’s balanced foreign policy has deepened strategic partnerships with the United States, China, various Islamic nations, and the D-8 group. Such engagement is actively opening new avenues for trade and regional cooperation, contributing to broader goals similar to the objectives seen in the Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan Agree to Boost Ties in Security, Trade, Energy initiatives.

Closing Remarks

Earlier, Faisalabad Editors Council Secretary General Syed Muhammad Munir Gilani extended a welcome to the PID Lahore chief, characterizing the federal government’s outreach to regional media as a significant advancement that fosters mutual trust. The event concluded with Khan thanking the media representatives for their professional contributions, followed by the presentation of a commemorative shield by the Faisalabad Editors Council.
