Pakistan Army Chief Stresses Preparedness Against Threats

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, on Tuesday addressed graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, stressing the need for strategic clarity and institutional professionalism in an increasingly complex security environment.

Strategic Preparedness in Evolving Warfare

The army chief said the evolving character of warfare requires Pakistan’s Armed Forces to continually adapt their employment and development strategies. He praised the role of NDU in preparing future military and civilian leaders to effectively counter hybrid, conventional and sub-conventional threats.

Countering Destabilization Efforts

Field Marshal Munir stated that the Armed Forces remain vigilant against attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilize the country through proxies and affiliated networks, asserting that such efforts would not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s internal security or economic progress.

Resolve Against Terrorism

Reaffirming the state’s resolve against terrorism, he said threats originating from across the borders would be dealt with decisively and that terrorist sanctuaries and their facilitators would be dismantled with the full support of the nation. The Pakistan Army vows counter-terrorism, citing Afghan territory use.

Foundations of Military Success

He emphasized that military success is achieved through faith, unity and discipline rather than media rhetoric or political slogans, and expressed confidence in the professionalism and operational readiness of Pakistan’s battle-hardened Armed Forces. He also urged the graduating officers to uphold the values of integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the nation.

Earlier, the Field Marshal was received at NDU by the university’s president upon his arrival.
