ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Islamabad on Monday on an official visit to Pakistan, accompanied by a high-level delegation to discuss key bilateral issues.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received his Iranian counterpart at the airport, while Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry presented a bouquet to the visiting dignitary. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam was also present on the occasion. Welcoming the visiting minister, Mohsin Naqvi said, “I warmly welcome my brother to Pakistan.” He expressed hope that Momeni’s visit would bring positive outcomes and further strengthen the longstanding ties between the two neighbouring countries. Naqvi remarked that he hoped the Iranian interior minister had “brought good news” and expressed optimism that the visit would help promote bilateral relations and lead to progress on important regional issues.

Delegation Composition

The Iranian delegation includes the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the Deputy Interior Minister, the Deputy Minister for Urban Development and Transport, the Head of the National Iranian Oil Company, the Special Representative of Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, and other senior officials. Scheduled High-Level Engagements

During his stay, Minister Momeni is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to discuss bilateral relations, border management, security cooperation, trade and the evolving regional situation. Later, Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart. Speaking on the occasion, Eskandar Momeni said he was delighted to meet his brother Mohsin Naqvi once again. He described Pakistan-Iran relations as exceptional and brotherly, adding that he had always admired the hospitality extended by the Government and people of Pakistan. Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence that the Iranian minister’s visit would prove productive and would further deepen bilateral cooperation and friendship between Pakistan and Iran.
