M-1, M-14 Motorways and Peshawar GT Road to Close to Traffic from September 23

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced the closure of several sections of the M-1 and M-14 motorways and the GT Road (N-5) in both directions from the evening of Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, the M-1 Motorway will remain closed to all traffic in both directions from the Islamabad Toll Plaza to Chachh Interchange.
The closure will also affect the Islamabad Toll Plaza, Fateh Jang/Tarnol Interchange, Sangjani/AWT Interchange, Brahma Bahtar Interchange, Burhan Interchange, Hazara Motorway Interchange, Ghazi Interchange and Chachh Interchange.
The M-14 Motorway will also be closed in both directions from Hakla to Kundal. The affected interchanges include Hakla, Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb, Khurappa, Tarap, Daud Khel, Kot Belian, Isa Khel and Kundal.
The NHMP further said that the GT Road (N-5) at Attock Khurd will also be closed to all traffic in both directions from Wednesday evening.
The Motorway Police has advised citizens to take the closures into account while planning their journeys and use alternative routes where possible.
