Major Motorways, Highways to Be Closed Ahead of PTI Protest on September 27

ISLAMABAD: In view of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest and possible long march planned for September 27, authorities have announced traffic restrictions on several motorways and major highways, with closures to begin at 11:00 pm tonight, September 23.

According to the traffic advisory, M-1 Peshawar Motorway will be closed at Haroon Bridge, while M-14 CPEC Motorway will be closed near Kani Bridge at the Talab/Tarp Interchange, within the jurisdiction of Mianwali Police.

The advisory further states that E-35 Hazara Motorway will be closed at the Hazara Interlink near Burhan Interchange.

Similarly, N-5 GT Road will be closed at Attock Khurd, Rawalpindi–Kohat Road at Khushal Garh, and Abbottabad–Hassanabdal Road at Jhari Kas Check Post.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic and trucks will also be barred from entering the M-2 Lahore–Islamabad Motorway from tonight. According to the traffic arrangements, heavy vehicles travelling from Lahore towards Islamabad will be diverted towards the GT Road at Kala Shah Kaku.

Authorities have advised commuters and travellers to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the affected routes and use alternative roads to prevent inconvenience.
