ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait, co-chaired delegation-level talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday. The discussions aimed to review the comprehensive spectrum of bilateral relations, specifically focusing on strengthening cooperation across sectors including trade, investment, energy, labour, agriculture, information technology, health, mining and minerals, defence, and the broader economic partnership, reflecting the ongoing commitment of leadership to enhance bilateral diplomatic engagements.

Institutionalizing Bilateral Cooperation

During the formal meeting, both sides reached a consensus to further institutionalize bilateral cooperation through the establishment of enhanced institutional linkages and the facilitation of regular high-level exchanges, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office. This move aligns with the government’s broader economic strategy, similar to recent efforts seen in other ministerial dialogues, such as when Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan Leads Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Task Force Meeting to drive policy-level progress.

Multilateral Coordination and Regional Stability

The two delegations reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to close coordination and cooperation at various multilateral forums regarding issues of mutual interest. Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended to his delegation. He specifically acknowledged and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support to Kuwait during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep commitment to its longstanding brotherly relations with Kuwait, underscoring a clear desire to further expand the mutually beneficial partnership across all areas of strategic cooperation. Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on significant regional and international developments, including the escalating situation in the Middle East and the ongoing crisis in Palestine. The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister formally recognized and appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting long-term regional peace and stability, an area where the country continues to navigate challenges similar to the Tensions Surge in Middle East as Iran and US Exchange Strikes.
