Petrol prices up by Rs5.58, diesel by Rs4.18 again; petrol up Rs21.56, diesel Rs15.54 since Sept 1

ISLAMABAD: The government has once again increased the prices of petroleum products, raising the price of petrol by Rs5.58 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.18 per litre.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the latest increase has pushed the price of petrol to Rs364.35 per litre, while HSD now costs Rs385.95 per litre. The revised prices take effect from September 9, 2026.

With the latest increase, petroleum prices have risen significantly since the beginning of the month. Since September 1, petrol has become Rs21.56 per litre more expensive, while HSD has risen by Rs15.54 per litre.

On September 1, petrol was priced at Rs342.79 per litre and HSD at Rs370.41 per litre. Following today’s increase, the prices have reached Rs364.35 and Rs385.95 per litre, respectively.

The sharpest increase in recent days came on September 8, when the government raised the price of petrol by Rs12.90 per litre and HSD by Rs3.72 per litre.

A day later, petrol was increased by another Rs5.58 per litre, while HSD went up by Rs4.18 per litre. As a result, petrol has become Rs18.48 per litre more expensive in just two days, while the price of HSD has risen by Rs7.90 per litre.

The continued rise in petroleum prices is expected to increase transportation costs and put additional pressure on prices of essential commodities.
