Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets Muslim World League Secretary General

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, held a high-level meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad this evening. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Members of the National Assembly Ms. Farah Naz Akbar and Ms. Zeb Jaffar, and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch. The delegation accompanying the Secretary General included the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, H.E. Nawaf Saeed Al Malky.

Deepening Ties and Promoting Moderate Islamic Values

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm welcome to Dr. Al-Issa, expressing gratitude for his active participation in the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, which concluded recently in Islamabad. The Prime Minister lauded the MWL for its instrumental role in projecting the moderate image of Islam, fostering unity among the Ummah, and championing the ideals of tolerance and interfaith harmony globally.

Addressing Global Challenges and Regional Stability

During the dialogue, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of MWL’s advocacy in navigating complex challenges facing the Muslim world. Discussions encompassed the current regional climate, particularly regarding tensions involving Iran and Gulf states, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and persistent issues affecting Muslim communities internationally. The Prime Minister further highlighted that Pakistan remains a key player in advancing these humanitarian and diplomatic goals, building upon the success of recent OIC initiatives. He also acknowledged the Secretary General’s history of engagement with Pakistan, including his previous support for girls’ education initiatives.

Commitment to Future Cooperation

The Prime Minister conveyed his profound regards to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and expressed his best wishes for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. In response, Dr. Al-Issa expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and reaffirmed the League’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Pakistan in the realms of religion, education, and humanitarian relief. He specifically recognized the roles of Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir for their contributions toward the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, marking a significant step in regional diplomatic efforts. The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination to ensure the timely completion of ongoing joint projects.
