Punjab seeks suspension or downgrading of mobile, internet services from Sept 27

LAHORE: The Punjab government has requested the federal government to suspend or downgrade mobile phone and internet services from September 27.
According to sources, the Punjab Home Department has written to the federal government, requesting the suspension of mobile and internet services or the weakening of signals from September 27.
Sources said the Punjab government has also requested the suspension of mobile and internet services in specific areas of Attock and Rawalpindi districts.
The request has been made in view of the anticipated law and order situation, according to sources.
The development comes as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a long march towards Islamabad on September 27. Containers are being placed on various routes leading to Islamabad, while Section 144 has also been imposed across Punjab.
