Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Assumes Office of Acting President of Pakistan

Islamabad, August 27, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assumed the office of Acting President of Pakistan in the absence of President Asif Ali Zardari, who is currently on an official visit to the Republic of Austria.

The President is visiting Austria from August 27 to 31, 2026, while Chairman Senate has also proceeded abroad on an official visit.

In view of the absence of both the President and the Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will perform the functions of the President until the return of either the President or the Chairman Senate to Pakistan.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will continue to discharge the responsibilities of Acting President in accordance with the constitutional provisions governing the performance of the functions of the President during such an absence.
