Somali Defence Minister Calls on Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ

RAWALPINDI: A high-level delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia, led by Defence Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics and measures to further strengthen bilateral defence and security cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing military-to-military relations and expanding capacity-building initiatives to effectively address shared security challenges.

The Somali Defence Minister appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support and commended the professional role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Somalia in strengthening its security institutions and promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
