DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A suicide attack near the Aman Mela checkpoint in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has killed at least 11 people and injured around 30 others, according to rescue officials.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the site shortly after the explosion and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals after providing them with initial medical treatment. Rescue officials said the bodies of 11 people were also recovered from the scene.

According to initial reports, the attack targeted a joint police and Customs checkpoint near Aman Mela. Reports said an explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into the checkpoint before detonating. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the attack.

Police, security personnel and other law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the area following the blast and launched a search and investigation operation.

The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to reports.

Officials said police and Customs personnel as well as civilians were among those killed and injured. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, raising the possibility that the death toll could increase.
