MANSEHRA (special crosspondent) – Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, conducted a field visit to the flood-affected regions of Siran Valley on Tuesday. Acting on the explicit directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the minister arrived in the district to personally assess the scale of devastation following recent monsoon rains and severe cloudburst incidents that have devastated local infrastructure.

Accompanied by a delegation of local elders, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf inspected the extent of the damage, which includes the destruction of residential properties, critical bridges, local water supply schemes, and significant erosion of essential link roads. The destruction of public infrastructure has further complicated regional connectivity, raising concerns similar to those seen in other administrative and governance challenges currently faced by the federation.

Federal Commitment to Relief and Rehabilitation

During his direct engagement with the local population, the minister extended his condolences for the losses suffered and assured the residents of the federal government’s full cooperation. He emphasized that the primary objective of his visit was to gather ground-level intelligence, which will be compiled into a comprehensive report for the Prime Minister to ensure that swift and effective measures are taken to support the victims.

Addressing the shortcomings in the ongoing rescue and relief efforts, the minister expressed profound disappointment regarding the delayed response from the provincial government. He subsequently directed the relevant district authorities to expedite the preparation of a detailed damage assessment report. Furthermore, he mandated that officials prioritize the rehabilitation of essential services to restore normalcy for the affected communities as quickly as possible, ensuring that the government’s strategic response efforts are executed with urgency.
