US Congressional Delegation Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation With Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – A United States Congressional Delegation (CODEL), comprising Congressman Ryan Zinke and Congressman Michael Baumgartner, called on Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Monday to discuss ways to further strengthen Pakistan-US relations and expand cooperation in key sectors. This high-level dialogue aligns with the ongoing efforts by Pakistan to accelerate digital reforms and stabilize its macroeconomic outlook through stronger international partnerships.

Expanding Economic and Strategic Ties

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the visiting delegation and highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral relations. Both sides discussed enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, information technology, energy, and other areas of mutual interest, while reaffirming their commitment to broadening the long-standing partnership between the two countries. The discussions underscored the necessity of robust engagement to ensure that Pakistan remains a key partner in regional economic developments.

Parliamentary Diplomacy and Diaspora Contributions

The two sides also underscored the importance of sustained parliamentary exchanges, noting that regular engagement between legislators can help build greater mutual trust and further strengthen Pakistan-US ties. The US congressional delegation acknowledged the significant contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the American economy and society, describing the community as a vital bridge that continues to deepen people-to-people connections between Pakistan and the United States.

Regional Peace and Stability

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on regional and international developments. The visiting lawmakers appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace, stability, and dialogue. The meeting reflects the continued engagement between Islamabad and Washington as both countries seek to expand cooperation across a wide range of political, economic, and strategic sectors, mirroring the broader efforts seen in other strategic dialogues like the one where the interior minister sought to bolster bilateral security ties with regional allies.
