Nippon HEV Launches Advanced Hydrogen Mobility and Battery Solutions in Pakistan

LAHORE (special crosspondent) – Marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s transition towards clean energy and sustainable transportation, Nippon HEV has officially introduced Japanese hydrogen mobility technology, including hydrogen-powered cars, motorcycles and advanced battery solutions, in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by former federal minister and prominent industrialist S.M. Muneer as chief guest, alongside senior executives from Pakistan and Japan, representatives of the banking sector, industrialists, investors, dealers, and members of the national and international media. This launch reflects a broader effort within the country, similar to initiatives where DG PID Shafqat Abbas Highlights Economic Stability and Media Responsibility, to foster a climate of innovation and national progress.

Landmark Step for Economic Sustainability

Speaking at the event, S.M. Muneer described the initiative as a landmark step towards reducing Pakistan’s dependence on imported fuels and promoting environmentally friendly transportation. He noted that the adoption of alternative energy technologies would help conserve foreign exchange reserves, strengthen the economy and pave the way for industrial growth. These advancements are critical as Pakistan explores new frontiers in technology, much like the efforts when Ahsan Iqbal Engages NASA Officials to Advance Pakistan Space Vision to modernize various sectors.

Building a Green Mobility Ecosystem

Nippon Japan Group Chief Operating Officer Haris Khan said the company’s vision extends beyond the introduction of new vehicles to the establishment of a comprehensive green mobility ecosystem in Pakistan. He emphasized that Japanese technology is synonymous with quality, reliability and sustainability, adding that Pakistan has the potential to emerge as a regional hub for hydrogen mobility.

Captain (Retd.) Amir Raza Zaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Nippon Pakistan, said the company plans to develop a nationwide network of dealerships, training centres, modern workshops and after-sales services. He added that the initiative would facilitate technology transfer, create employment opportunities and support the growth of local industry.

The Role of Financial Institutions
Addressing the gathering, UBL Group Head Chaudhry Qaiser Iqbal underscored the role of financial institutions in supporting investments that advance clean energy, technological innovation and sustainable economic development. The collaboration between the private sector and financial entities is essential for industrial advancement, echoing the collaborative spirit seen in efforts such as when Pakistan-Türkiye Business Meeting Proposed to Boost Trade to strengthen global economic ties.
Participants at the ceremony expressed optimism that close cooperation between the government, private sector and financial institutions would accelerate Pakistan’s shift towards a cleaner, more secure and economically resilient energy future.
