Newly elected AJK PM Barrister Iftikhar Gilani meets PML-N leadership in Lahore
LAHORE: Newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Iftikhar Gilani met the senior leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Lahore to discuss the political and administrative situation in AJK and the next steps for government formation.
The meeting was held at Jati Umra and attended by PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq and Assembly Member Abdul Rehman Arain were also present.
The PML-N leadership congratulated Barrister Iftikhar Gilani on assuming the office of AJK Prime Minister and expressed its best wishes for his new government.
The meeting discussed the overall political and governmental situation in AJK, the upcoming stages of government formation and the formation of the cabinet.
Nawaz Sharif shared a reform plan for the first 100 days of the AJK government with Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani and stressed the need to provide immediate relief to the people.
The PML-N leadership urged the new government to prioritise improvements in health, education, sanitation, infrastructure and other basic public services. Nawaz Sharif also emphasised good governance, public service and accelerating the pace of development while addressing public grievances on a priority basis.
Barrister Iftikhar Gilani thanked the PML-N leadership for its confidence and assured that his government would pursue an agenda focused on public service, development and the welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir.
He also expressed his resolve to live up to the expectations of the party leadership and the people by ensuring effective governance and implementing measures aimed at improving public welfare.
