PIMS Nursery Incident: Strict measures needed to prevent such incidents in future, says Nawaz Basra
No compromise on children’s health and safety; those responsible should be given exemplary punishment
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Overseas Committee of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Chaudhry Nawaz Basra, has expressed deep grief and concern over the unfortunate incident at the PIMS Children’s Nursery, calling for stricter and more effective safety measures at hospitals to prevent such incidents in the future.
In a statement, Nawaz Basra said children’s lives and health were extremely precious and no negligence or carelessness could be tolerated in this regard.
He praised the bravery of the nurse who saved lives during the incident, saying her courage should serve as a role model and that she undoubtedly deserved recognition through the Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Medal of Bravery).
Nawaz Basra called for strict implementation of security, surveillance, medical facilities and safety protocols at hospitals, particularly in children’s wards and nurseries.
He said that in the event of any unfortunate incident, the facts should be established through immediate and transparent investigations. If negligence or carelessness was found, those responsible should be identified and proceeded against in accordance with the law and given exemplary punishment.
