Rawalpindi: Work on Race Course Park and Charing Cross Underpasses to Begin Tomorrow
Rawalpindi, September 6: Construction work on the Race Course Park and Charing Cross underpasses in Rawalpindi will begin tomorrow, September 7, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on major roads.
Both underpasses will be constructed along Peshawar Road. The two projects are estimated to cost around Rs8 billion in total, with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) responsible for carrying out the construction work.
The projects are aimed at reducing traffic pressure on Peshawar Road, improving vehicular movement and cutting travel time for commuters.
During construction, traffic will be diverted to alternative service roads to minimize inconvenience for motorists and residents.
According to the report, the original plan included construction of underpasses at three locations. However, at the Army Graveyard site, authorities decided to construct an at-grade road instead of an underpass. Following the change, the project now comprises two underpasses.
The completion of the two projects is expected to improve traffic flow on Peshawar Road and facilitate connectivity between key areas of Rawalpindi.
