Iran Rejects IAEA Resolution, Calls Nuclear Allegations Political

Tehran, September 11, 2026: Iran has rejected a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) concerning its nuclear programme, dismissing the allegations as political rather than technical.

Iranian Ambassador Gholam Hossein Darzi has written to the President of the United Nations Security Council, rejecting what he described as baseless allegations and attempts to distort facts about Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

Darzi said the IAEA had already referred the issue of uranium traces and related inspections in Iran to the UN Security Council.

He maintained that Iran rejects allegations concerning its nuclear programme that are not based on technical evidence and reiterated Tehran’s position that its nuclear programme is peaceful.

Earlier, China opposed the US-backed IAEA resolution against Iran, warning that political confrontation and pressure would further escalate tensions.

Beijing also called for a return to negotiations as the preferred means of resolving the dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme.
