Pakistan Government Increases Petrol and High Speed Diesel Prices Again

Pakistan Government Increases Petrol and High Speed Diesel Prices Again

ISLAMABAD (special crosspondent) – The federal government has officially announced a further increase in the prices of petroleum products, adjusting the rates for both petrol and high-speed diesel effective from July 23.

Revised Petroleum Pricing Structure

According to a formal notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol has been increased by PKR 6.39 per litre. Concurrently, the cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been raised by PKR 7.83 per litre. Following these adjustments, the new price for petrol is now set at PKR 327.12 per litre, while high-speed diesel will retail at PKR 375.04 per litre.

The government stated that this latest price revision is a direct result of ongoing fluctuations in international crude oil markets and rising import costs. These variables are assessed during the government’s mandatory fortnightly review of domestic petroleum prices, often discussed in broader economic dialogues such as those involving Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb regarding the country’s fiscal stability.

Impact on National Economy

Market analysts suggest that this latest increase in fuel prices is likely to place significant pressure on national transportation costs. As logistics become more expensive, there is a strong probability of a knock-on effect leading to higher prices for essential goods and services, which may further exacerbate inflationary trends across the country. Managing such economic pressures remains a priority for policymakers, including initiatives to boost national productivity, similar to efforts seen in the development of a National Innovation Ecosystem.

The government continues to monitor global energy trends, aware that economic resilience is vital, particularly as the nation engages in strategic international trade and financial cooperation to sustain growth during these challenging global market conditions.
